Seattle Adds Speedy Forward in Move with Blazers

The Seattle Totems and Bellingham Blazers aren’t teams that usually swap players. In fact, I cannot remember the last time these two teams have made player moves with each other. Bob Dylan should be hired to play in the PNW as The Times They Are A Changing.

In need of forward or two, the Totems made a trade with Bellingham for Carter Dickson yesterday. In return, the Blazers will receive future considerations.

In 15 games with the Blazers this season Dickson scored 4 times to go along with 8 assists while amassing 25 penalty minutes. Those are numbers good enough to impress Totems Bench Boss, Mike Butters, said GM, Michael Murphy. “I have to be honest, I don’t know much about him. I inquired into him at the insistence of our coach. Buttsy (Coach Butters) has been on me to get him since the start of the year. When we noticed he had been a scratch for them, I reached out to see if we could get something done."

"It has been a somewhat of a curvy road to Seattle for Dickson,” said Coach Butters. “I had communicated with him prior to the season and he opted to go to Bellingham. In watching him play, he was a guy I wanted to keep an eye on."

Coach Butters said Dickson fell out of favor with Bellingham Coach, Eric Ruud and that left an opening for the Totems to see if he was available. “I have known Eric Ruud for years and I have a ton of respect for him. We share a lot of the same philosophies when it comes to players and team dynamics. I think this is just a case of a player needing a fresh start. I had just seen the same thing happen last week with a couple of our guys. It wasn’t that they were bad people, more than it was that they just needed to go try it elsewhere.” Coach Butters added, “I never dwell on a player’s past. It’s what they do when they get here and moving forward than will have me formulate my opinions of Dickson, or any other player, for that matter."

Dickson will practice with the Totems tomorrow and will make his debut on Wednesday in the Totems Annual Pre Thanksgiving game this Wednesday at 6:00pm. Dickson will wear #88.
