The Seattle Totems added 2 key players this week.

Seattle has just added defenseman, Michael Karvelas and left winger/centerman, Luke Anthony. Both players were recently reassigned to the Emerald City via their Tier II affiliates in the NCDC West.

With the creation of the new NCDC West comes the migration of higher quality players to the Western US. That coupled with the Totems' working agreement with 2 of that league's teams, will mean Seattle will see some player movement between the two this season.

Karvelas, a 2004 defenseman, comes to Green & White after playing last season with both the Yale Bulldogs 18AAA team and the infamous Loomis Chaffee Prep School. In 45 games with the two teams, the Pasadena, CA native registered 6 goals and 3 assists. Totems Head Coach, Mike Butters, thinks Karvelas has what it takes to make an immediate impact with his club. "Michael is a strong skater with a well rounded skill set. He makes good decisions with the puck and his high level character will make him a solid fit here."

Anthony, a 2004 forward from Santa Ana, CA put up impressive numbers last season with the Anaheim Ducks 18U AAA team. In 70 games, the 6'1" 175 lb. sharpshooter had 32 goals to go along with 30 assists. Coach Butters is equally impressed with Anthony. "Luke is a player who can take over a game. His anticipation skills are good and he has good touch on the puck. What puts his game over the top is his attitude towards the game and his overall character."

While Karvelas has been skating with the club this week, Anthony will be joining the team Monday.

Fun Fact: Anthony and Karvelas both played together briefly in the Anaheim Ducks organization under coach August Aiken. "It's easy to see why both Luke and Michael have such good character," said Butters."Coach Aiken is one of the top 18AAA coaches in the country and his players all have many positive attributes, under his his tuteledge."

Both players are expected to play in the Totems Home Opener, which is next Saturday, September 23rd at Olympicview Ice Arena. Game time is 7:30pm. Karvelas will wear #58 and Anthony will don #20.
