This hiatus from hockey has been difficult to say the least. As the first month of 2021 is almost past us, the Western States Hockey League would like to take a moment to reaffirm the decision it made in cancelling the 2020-2021 season.
It was, again, the most difficult decision made in league history at the Board of Governors level. Although the league is not currently in action, we can proudly account for ZERO COVID related cases during the pandemic, or due to events sanctioned by the WSHL, which was our ultimate goal in stopping play.
The WSHL would like to announce that it has officially begun planning for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. We are still following all of the developments regarding Covid 19 and how it has effected communities within our competitive foot print. As the distribution of the vaccine spreads throughout the U.S. and Canada over the next couple of months, we will be making more announcements as to teams, tryouts, season start date, showcase date and Thorne Cup Host.
We are actively discussing opportunities with a few new potential qualified team-owners who are looking to field their team at the competitive Junior-A level. Other interested parties should reach out to Commissioner Ron White by contacting - firstname.lastname@example.org
Our first bit of exciting news, the WSHL is proud to make our first new team announcements for 2021 by welcoming our newest member to the league, Vancouver Devils. The Devils will be playing out of Fraser Valley in greater Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
