The Totems bolster their lineup with the addition of Cole Wilmert.

The Seattle Totems added another impact player prior to the start of the 23-24 regular season. Cole Wilmert was reassigned to Seattle on Sunday from the LaRonge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Wilmert, a 19 year old defenseman from Ogden, UT had an impressive showing in LaRonge, appearing in 3 of 4 preseason games. Wilmert spent the 2022-23 with the Odgen Mustangs (USPHL-P), where he picked up 6 assists and 24 penalty minutes in 32 games. The 6'5", 205 lb. defenseman, while disappointed with not making LaRonge's final roster, looks forward to reporting to Seattle. "I am looking forward to playing for the Totems and helping the team however I can."

The addition of Wilmert is somewhat of a homecoming for him as he played for the Seattle Jr. Thunderbirds during the 20-21 season for non other than current Totems Head Coach, Mike Butters. "Cole is a hard-nosed, hard working player with a great attitude and work ethic. In speaking with Coach Kevin Kaminski in LaRonge,  "Willy" had a good showing there and was their last defenseman to be reassigned out of preseason. I expect Cole to come in and provide us with a hard-nosed, steady game from the blue line."

Wilmert will wear number 22 for the Totems.

The Seattle Totems will head to Bellingham this Friday to start their 2023-24 USPHL season before heading home Saturday for the Totems Home Opener. Game time will be 7:30pm at Olympicview Ice Arena.
