The Totems officially closed out their training camp with a trip to Bellingham on Saturday for their only preseason game of the 23-24 season and ended up on the good side of a 3-2 overtime victory over the Bellingham Blazers.

The game was the only preseason contest for the Totems as they prepare for the start of the USPHL Regular Season which gets underway this Friday. Newcomer Roman Wolynec was the hero of the night as he converted on a slick, in tight shot at the 1:09 mark of overtime to give the road team Totems the victory.

Totems Head Coach, Mike Butters was pleased with his teams effort and looks forward to start of the regular season. "Tonight's game was a great opportunity to see the players in a variety of situations as we prepare for the season. There was effort and enthusiasm and that's about all we can hope for at the time of the season." Butters dressed all 24 players currently in town on the roster and all 3 goalies played a period each.

Carsten Shrimpton stopped all 8 shots he faced in the opening period, which saw the Totems build a 1-0 lead off the wraparound goal from Jesse Aitken. Daniel Cleofe stopped 10 of the 11 shots he faced as the second period end with both teams tied at 1. Casey Johnson stopped with of the 4 shots he faced and was credited with the win as Maddox Caie scored the tying goal at the 4:40 mark of the third and Wolynec pumping in the game winner.

The two teams will face off again this weekend, which will see the Totems travel to Bellingham on Friday, before head back to Seattle on Saturday for the Totems Home Opener. The same two teams will head back to Bellingham for a Sunday matinee game.
