The Seattle Totems added to their defensive corps prior to game with Rogue Valley this Saturday.

The first move the Totems made during their Bye Week was adding defenseman Liam Lidgren. The 18 year old, left shot blueliner from Täby, Sweden was assigned to the Green and White from their affiliate club, the Ogden Mustangs, last Thursday.

Lidgren is 6'0" 187lb. and according to Totems Head Coach, Mike Butters, Lidgren will provide an immediate boost. "Liam is a solid, puck moving defenseman, who is a premium skater and competes hard. He will add both depth and another dimension to our offense." In 2 appearances with the Mustangs, Lidgren had a goal and an assist.

The Totems weren't done last week as they added defenseman Owen Blyth to their roster. Blyth was currently playing for the Aldergrove Kodiaks of the PIJHL, where he was anchoring their blue line. The 6'0" 185lb. defenseman reached out to the Totems as he has goals of playing US college and Seattle obliged. "I am excited to have this opportunity to play for a great organization like the Seattle Totems. I feel that playing with the Totems will give me a great opportunity to better myself as a player and a person," said Blyth via text earlier this week.

"Owen is a smart player who gets up and down the ice quite well," said Butters. "He played in a variety of situations in BC and I expect him to fit in real well with this group."

The addition of the two defensemen now gives the Totems 8 rostered blue-liners, something that sits well with Butters. Adding some depth on the back end was something we needed. We were rolling the dice carrying 6 and with injuries to Wilmert and Lyrintzis, these moves were necessary. Both Wilmert and Maddox Caie are quite adept at playing forward as well so we have some flexibility with our lineup.

Both Lidgren and Blyth are in town and expected to be at practice tomorrow and in the lineup this Saturday as the Totems host the Rogue Valley Royals this Saturday at 7:30pm at OVA.
